Summit is a "Church with a Mission." We not only provide spiritual outreach to all people in need, we participate
in a wide variety of mission activities locally, nationally and internationally. These activities include local community
hunger and housing programs, support to national and international disaster relief, as well as foreign missions
and missionaries. For a more detailed look at Summit's participation, please visit the
Mission Committee page. Below
are some of Summit's activities:
Our Community Meals Program involves people from Summit preparing and delivering about 1,000 meals a year to needy
folks in our local area. The group meets the third Saturday of every month in Fellowship Hall.
Every year Summit helps repair and restore a home connected with the Rebuilding Through Christmas-in-April
program.
With our Christmas White Gift Program (gifts wrapped only in white paper), we help 30-40
local families yearly with food, gifts
and items we have found out they are in need of.
Summit's tithes, offerings, special collections, and time supports other groups/causes such as the Gordan-Gayle Fund;
S.E.R.V.E. (a Stafford organization
which helps needy families with emergency services and money); the Salvation Army; missions of the Presbytery of
the James; the Campus Christian Community at the University of Mary Washington; and other activities of Summit such
as our Youth Mission Trips, and support to the Presbyterian Women and their Group Home efforts.
